Culture and Environment
The forces of globalisation combined with increases in information technology increase the likelihood of a global culture. The debate centres on whether the process will create greater divisions or bring the global society closer together. The environmental impacts of globalisation debate spans the pro globalisation lobby that point to the efficient use of resources to the anti lobby which highlight the negative effect on exploitation of resources and its impact on climate change.
Resource productivity and climate change
The environmental impacts of globalisation debate covers a wide spectrum, ranging from the assertion that Integration in the world economy contributes to environmental improvements by promoting growth, increasing incomes, improving property rights and the allowing the efficient use of resources to one where the process of globalisation is exploited to place environmentally degrading industries in countries that do not have adequate environmental controls.
Aspiration and Business Networks
The South West's culture towards the idea of globalisation is generally one of recognition of the importance of globalisation but a lack of confidence to engage in international activity. Through raising businesses aspiration and confidence through building alliances and networks theses barriers can be overcome.
