The latest news part of this website provides links to articles - from a range of sources - on securing economic growth within environmental limits.
We have tried to be as balanced as we can, but it is hard to find any articles refuting global warming or suggesting that we do not need to take it seriously. While there is some concern that the 'language of chaos and catastrophe' has got out of hand (see Chaotic world of climate truth by Mike Hulme, Director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research) there seems to be wide consensus - in the UK at least - that we need to act now. Do you all agree? Or does anyone think we are over-reacting? It worries me a bit that we can't find any sceptics. Edited by alister - 02 Feb 2007 at 9:44am |

Well, Cookie, it depends...
You might not share the sceptics' view of the world, but we need to figure out (i) where the powerful ones are (ii) whether they want to prevent change happening (iii) how to bring them on side |

Oops - I also meant to say that this debate doesn't seem to be about whether we need to secure economic growth within environmental limits, but how to - and if the South West is going to do that, it needs to decide what to start doing and what to stop doing.
If that's true, what people believe is less important than how they choose to behave - and understanding how sceptics might behave (or not) is going to be critical for public policy. |
