Introduction
| The Department of Trade & Industry's (DTi) energy review, published in July 2006, sets out two challenges for the UK: to use less energy in our products and services and produce more energy from low-carbon sources. It also identifies that the main obstacles to improving energy efficiency are lack of information about costs and benefits, absence of appropriate incentives, and lack of motivation among consumers. Progress on energy efficiency requires everyone - companies, individuals and government - to recognise that they have a role to play. The Energy Debate will explore what these roles might be and what the drive for energy efficiency means for the South West economy. |
